On a personal and professional level, manners matter. The Southwest Women's Roundtable invites you to a May 14th a networking event to talk about the importance of good manners. The event is 8:30-10 a.m.,  in the meeting room at Wagner’s Pharmacy, 3113 S. 4th St.

Speaker Vonda Drinkard, co-owner of  Picture Perfect Manners, focuses on teaching etiquette and developing and fostering self-esteem. Her workshops on business etiquette cover skills such as:

  • Magical Words and Phrases
  • The Art of Introductions
  • Handshake
  • Communications Skills
  • Body Language
  • Working a Room with Class
  • Cell Phones & Social Media
  • Business Tips
  • Dining with Clients

Scrappin' for Scouts - May 10th

Scrappin’ for Scouts is a fun day of scrapbooking to support Highview Girl Scouts. It takes place May 10th, 9a-9p at Summit Heights UMC, 7400 Outer Loop. Fee includes crop space, lunch, dinner, giveaways. Vendors willl offer sale items. Bring your rummage items. Cost: $30 half-table/$40 full-table (8-ft. tables) paid by May 3rd, or $35/$45 after May 3rd. RSVP required. Call/ email: 231-2625  chris_blandford@bellsouth.net.

10th Annual Forest Fest - Bluegrass at Its Best Comes to JMF on May 17th

Join us this May at Jefferson Memorial Forest for the 10th annual Forest Fest Bluegrass Music Festival. Two stellar Bluegrass stars, Noam Pikelny and Stuart Duncan, will headline a day of incredible entertainment rounded out by American Drive, Nu-Blu and Whiskey Bent Valley. The fest begins at 11 AM and will include lots of family activities and vendors.  Free admission; parking is $10 per carload.
