LG&E Natural Gas Inspection Season

LG&E

It’s natural gas inspection season, the time of year when LG&E survey’s the natural gas distribution system so they can identify potential problems and make necessary repairs. Typically, this activity occurs between late March and the end of October while the weather is warm, so there will be less of an impact on its customers’ lives if they have to interrupt their gas service to make repairs.

Each year they do this as part of their commitment to safety and to ensure they comply with regulations that relate to the natural gas industry. These surveys are required under federal and state regulations that indicate the gas distribution system must be inspected up to the outlet of a customer’s gas meter. That means you may see LG&E technicians waving a wand (it looks a little bit like a metal detector) from the street, through your yard and up to your meter. For the most part, the inspection takes less than a minute. In some cases, if your natural gas meter is behind a fence or inside your home or business, the technician will ask you to unlock a gate or notify you that they need to enter your yard.

LG&E performs repairs so customers won’t experience the inconvenience of having to pay someone to make the repairs for them. If a problem is discovered, they may need to interrupt your natural gas service for safety reasons until the problem is corrected. Regardless of whether your service is interrupted or not, they will work with you to schedule a time when their crews can make the repairs. To learn more about the natural gas distribution system survey work they do, visit lge-ku.com/gassurvey.

Pace Car Program Available in the 9th District!

Pace Car Sticker

The Pace Car Program is a citizen-based traffic calming initiative that encourages residents to take responsibility for their own driving while setting the "pace" for safer streets and neighborhoods.  Residents will be able to sign an official Pace Car registration form and pledge the following:

“Drive the speed limit on city streets, especially in residential areas, setting the pace for vehicles behind me; stop completely at STOP signs and don’t run red lights; be courteous to all bicyclists; pedestrians and other motorists; give myself enough travel time so that I am not sacrificing safety or courtesy; devote my full attention to driving by avoiding distractions, i.e.: cell phones; not be pressured by the impatience of other drivers to exceed the speed limit; keep my sense of humor, life’s too short to let driving stress my out!; and display the Metro Pace Car Program decals or bumper stickers.”

By signing this pledge you will receive an official Pace Car bumper sticker or car window sticker to display on your vehicle.  The sticker will alert other drivers that they are taking part in the citizen-based effort to address the problems of traffic speed and safety.

To sign up for this program please click here to download the Official Pledge Form.  Read, sign and date the form and return it to our office.  Please indicate if you would prefer a bumper or window sticker for the program.
