Welcome to District 15! Some of the more notable landmarks of the District include Iroquois Park, Churchill Downs, and Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

 We also have the neighborhoods of South Louisville, Wyandotte and Taylor-Berry, Oakdale, Wilder Park, Cloverleaf, Lucky Horseshoe and St Joseph.

Do you have Debris from this past Weekend's Storms?

Citizens who have damaged household items from the record rainfall this past weekend can take it to the city’s Waste Reduction Center at 636 Meriwether Ave. between now and October 26, 2013. There will be no charge for citizens of Louisville/Jefferson County. However, residents will have to provide two forms of identification to verify their Jefferson County residency. They will need to present to the attendant a utility bill and a driver’s license. Hours are:

Monday -- Friday      8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday                    8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please note that the Waste Reduction Center is normally closed Monday and Tuesday but will be opened for citizen flood debris drop-off only.For more information, call MetroCall 311 or visit www.louisvilleky.gov.

Jack O' Lantern Spectacular

October 10 – November 2, will be held in Iroquois Park with 5,000 carved pumpkins lining a ¼-mile trail, illuminated at night as an “art show” daily from dusk to midnight during the week and 1 a.m. on the weekends. ■Nightly illumination ■Entertainment for the whole family ■5,000 illuminated pumpkins on a 1,500-ft. trail with over 100 carved into veritable works of art ■Presented in themed scenes with music! Walk With a Doc
Iroquois Park will hold their next “Walk With a Doc” program Saturday, October 19, 2013. The walk starts at the shelter near the Iroquois Amphitheater. It’s a free walking program for anyone who’s interested in taking steps to improve their health. Each walk is hosted by a KentuckyOne Health physician, and in addition to the numerous health benefits you’ll enjoy just by walking, you’ll also get a free blood pressure check and the chance to talk with the doc while you walk. The Department of Justice and Public Safety Administration at Sullivan University is proud to host:In this informative and educational seminar, gangs that are currently active in the Louisville area and throughout Kentucky will be discussed.  Details about gang activity, such as the crimes they are associated with, recruiting strategies, gang signs and symbols and other identifiers will be presented.  This seminar is free, but registration is required. Protect Yourself:

Keep your wallet in an inside coat or side trouser pocket.

Have your car or house key in your hand as you approach the door.

Park in well-lighted areas that will be well-lighted when you return. Be sure to lock your car doors.

If you jog, do not jog alone in isolated areas.

Do not hitchhike. Do not pick up hitchhikers.

Do not accept rides from strangers.

Women living alone should list only their last name and first initial in the phone book and on mail boxes. Ask the phone company to not list your address in the book.If you see something unusual, do not hesitate to call the police (non-emergency 502-574-7111, emergency 911).
