Last Highview Park Summer Concert August 16th

Friday Fest

Don’t miss the final Highview Park concert of the year next Friday with JD Shelburne who is a country artist that hails from Taylorsville, Kentucky but now calls his home Nashville. He has recently released 2 radio singles “Farmboy” and “Grandma & Garth” nationwide followed by his debut music video for “Farmboy” featuring former University of Kentucky Head Football Coach Joker Phillips on bass guitar.

Also performing is Meadow Ryann.  At only 13 years old Meadow is already an accomplished singer and songwriter playing shows in Nashville and around the region.

All shows are free to attend. Bring a cooler, picnic basket or grab some food from one of the vendors.  Bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the show.  Kids can play in the Bounce House!

Highview Park is located at 7201 Outer Loop. Please enter through Briscoe Lane. Fern Creek Highview United Ministries will be collecting canned goods. For more information on the concert series visit the FridayFest Facebook Page

"Walk Away From Colon Cancer" at Iroquois Park

Walk Away from Colon Cancer

On Saturday, August 24, you can take part in a great event, get some excercise, and support a worthy cause. The 8th Annual "Walk Away from Colon Cancer & 5K Run" will take place at Iroquois Park. The event is the largest 5K in this area to support the fight against colon cancer.

Each year, thousands of American families are affected by this common but little discussed disease. Colon cancer is the 2nd leading cancer killer in both men and women in Kentucky, Indiana, and the whole U.S. despite the fact that it is one of the most preventable forms of cancer. Festivities start at 8:00am and include a healthy village, a Kid Zone, healthy snacks, music, and more! Chip-timed runners in the 5K begin at 9:00am.

Register today online or by calling (502) 290-0288. Complete information about the event can be found here.
