“Shop with a Hero” Saturday,
December 5th
Law enforcement, firefighters,
lawmakers, service men, & women along with veterans invited to help.
Saturday December 5th, Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) and CM David Yates D-25 will participate in the Eighth Annual “Shop with a Hero” Program hosted by the Valley View Church. They invite anyone who is in the field of public safety or the military to come and help this Saturday.
This year “Shop with a Hero” will again take place at the Kohl’s Store on Preston Highway, 11811 Standiford Plaza Drive from 9:00am to12:00pm.
“Welcome heroes and shoppers to the Kohl’s in District 13 once again this year. It is my pleasure to partner with Valley View Church and thank them for this annual event to assist those families in need at Christmas time. It always melts my heart to hear the appreciation from kids & parents when they receive their gift cards and are able to shop together as a family,” says CW Welch.
The Heroes in this program help children make their shopping selections. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact CW Welch’s office by phone at 574-1113 or by email at Vicki.Welch@louisvilleky.gov
Fairdale Roundabout Project
Friday, December 4 at 9 a.m
Metro Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch will be joined by Mayor
Greg Fischer, Governor Steve Beshear, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and State
Rep. Jeffrey Donohue to announce a major development in the long awaited Fairdale Roundabout
project.
The project will improve traffic flow, safety and the appearance of
the center of Fairdale by replacing two T-shaped intersections along the West
Manslick Road / Mt. Holly Road corridor that each has flashing traffic signals.
In their place will be a single 4-way intersection that will have a roundabout.
The roundabout will eliminate the need for traffic signals and allow vehicles
to move continuously through the intersection.
The public is invited to join them at 402 Mt. Holly Road – vacant lot of
former BP gas station directly across the street from Dairy Queen. Parking is
available at the Fairdale Fire Station on Mitchell Hill Road.

Alley
Cat Advocates Receives $84,000 from PetSmart Charities® to Spay/Neuter Unowned
Community Cats!
Alley Cat Advocates (ACA) has received a grant of $84,000 from PetSmart
Charities®, the largest funder of animal welfare efforts in North America. The
funds will help ACA reduce number of cats euthanized in local shelters by
providing spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and veterinary care for 2,100
unowned community cats in southwest Louisville.
Working through the ACA
Neighborhoods Program, cat caretakers who live in the Jefferson County zip codes
40208, 40209, 40213, 40214, 40215, 40216, 40217, 40219, 40258 and 40272 will be
offered, at no cost, spay/neuter services for unowned community
cats. These zip codes will be targeted because Louisville Metro Animal
Services - our city's municipal shelter - sees the highest intake of community
cats from these zip codes due to cat overpopulation and breeding.
