Louder Than Life – October 3 & 4

Louder Than Life

Louder Than Life, a two-day music and food festival, returns to D9’s Champions Park on River Road this weekend. This is a ticketed event, which leases Metro Parks and Louisville Water Company facilities. As a result, Louisville Water Tower Park, Champions Park and Eva Bandman Park will be closed to those without tickets on both Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4. The event drew over 35,000 people last year and traffic in the area was heavy. The music lineup runs until 10:55 p.m. on Saturday and 10:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The Courier-Journal recently featured Louder Than Life tips, click here to read them. For more information please visit, http://louderthanlifefestival.com/

Sustainability Story: Louisville Solar Tour

Sustainablity

The D9 eNews has featured several solar installations in the last few weeks, in keeping with the recent Metro Council resolution which encourages more use of solar in public and private buildings in Louisville.  On Saturday, October 10, you can see many solar-powered homes and businesses yourself on the 2015 Louisville Solar Tour.  The tour is one of hundreds being held around the country to demonstrate practical and economical solar solutions and to encourage community conversations addressing the growing need for clean energy.

During the tour, participants will be able to speak directly with installers and system owners to get information about solar energy’s affordability and its environmental and economic benefits.   The tour is free and open to the public.  A kickoff and introduction to solar energy will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Green Building, 732 East Market Street.  Between Noon and 3:00 p.m., participants will have a choice of three tours:  self-guided, bike, and bus.  There is a $10 charge for the guided bus tour.

The 2015 Louisville Solar Tour concludes with a celebration at District 9’s solar-powered Apocalypse Brew Works, 1612 Mellwood Avenue, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

More information is here: http://louisvillesolartour.blogspot.com/.  Make plans now to learn more about solar in Louisville on October 10.

We’d like to feature your sustainability story - a resident or business doing good things for the environment.  Riding the bus, bicycling, walking, gardening and more - our eNews will feature practices which can benefit all of us.  Send your story to Bill Hollander or Kyle Ethridge
