Be safe as you head back to school!

As summer draws to a close, back-to-school season will be in full effect. Please remember to safely share the roads with school buses, pedestrians and bicyclists. Also, provide children with the necessary knowledge to stay safe at school. Below are a few tips to share with your family as we head back to school. School Supplies Drive

St. MAM and Eastern Area Community Ministries (EACM) will host annual school supplies drives in an effort to gather the necessary school required items that a student needs when heading back to school. School supplies may be donated at any time of the year although the BIG COLLECTION is generally done towards the end of the summer. If you would like donate school supplies to St. MAM click here or for EACM click here. Please consider helping support the children in our community by donating these much needed school supplies to ensure that our students have the tools and resources they need to thrive.

Hubbards Lane Recycling Center Back in Service

The flooding that left the East District Operations facility under five feet of water has now receded and recovery work is well under way. Public Works has made enough progress to be able to reopen the Staffed Recycling Center as of July 31. The facility at 595 Hubbards Lane is once again accepting materials for recycling. It rejoins the roster of recycling locations around town. You can find the complete list of Metro Louisville Staffed Recycling Centers here.

Join the Green Institute for the 2015 class!

The Green Institute is an environmental leadership-education program established in 2012 by the Center For Neighborhoods, equips neighborhood leaders with the skills and resources needed to improve the environmental, social and economic resilience of their communities. Classes meet every Tuesday, 6:00 - 8:30PM at THE PARK, a shared workspace/co-working community located at 1229 S. Shelby Street, for 12 consecutive weeks (August 18th – November 10th). Dinner is provided, and the class is offered free of charge.

The Green Institute 2015 is open to all neighborhoods, Metro Council Districts and the whole community.
