I have heard from a number of constituents who are concerned about the dramatic increase of their property's valuation from the PVA. As a result of these calls I have requested that Tony Lindauer, the PVA, come before the Metro Council to testify on this issue. Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey-Welch agreed and the PVA will be testifying on Wednesday, May 6 at 4:30 PM before the Government Accountability and Ethics committee.
Do you have specific questions you would like for me to ask the PVA while they are before the Metro Council? If so please submit them to my office by clicking here, and put "PVA Question" in the subject line. You can also watch the hearing live on Metro TV which is available for many TWC customers on channel 25; or you can stream MetroTV from any computer by clicking here.
All property owners have the right to appeal the current assessments each year. By law, certain steps must be followed in the appeal process. Appeals may be completed through an online process or through the mail.
Under state law (KRS 133.120) property owners who wish to appeal their assessment must first hold a conference with the PVA Office during the annual Open Inspection Period (OIP). Each year the OIP begins on the first Monday in May and continues for a thirteen day period including two Saturdays. For more information click here. The deadline for filing an appeal with the PVA is Monday, May 18, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
No appeal can be accepted after the deadline. You will receive your appeal result by mail and/or email. For additional support, please click here or call 502.574.6224. To see detailed instructions on how to file an online appeal you can click here.
