Crews
Painting to Open New Lanes on I-465 At
South Side Operation Indy Commute
INDIANAPOLIS
– Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan to
paint lane markings this week on I-465 in order to open new traffic lanes and a
new flyover ramp at the south side Interstate 65 interchange. Weather
permitting, all remaining improvements from the south side Operation Indy
Commute interchange project are expected to be open before the end of next
week.
- One
additional lane will open on both directions of I-465 between I-65 and
Emerson Avenue.
- A
two-lane flyover ramp replaces the one-lane westbound I-465 loop
ramp to southbound I-65.
- Additional
lanes on I-65 between I-465 and Southport Road are now open.
Crews
will require temporary ramp closures and various overnight interstate lane
closures. Nightly restrictions are scheduled to begin tonight after 9
p.m. and end before 6 a.m. each day through Sunday morning. The following
schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
Wednesday,

lane open on eastbound and westbound I-465 between Emerson Avenue and I-65
- One
lane open on northbound I-65 between Southport Road and I-465
- Northbound
I-65 ramp closed to eastbound I-465
Thursday,
Dec. 11:
- One
lane open on northbound and southbound I-65 between Southport Road and
I-465
- One
lane open on eastbound I-465 between I-65 and Emerson Avenue
- Northbound
I-65 ramp closed to eastbound I-465
Friday,
Dec. 12:
- One
lane open on westbound I-465 between Emerson Avenue and I-65
- Westbound
I-465 ramp closed to northbound I-65
- Emerson
Avenue ramp closed to westbound I-465
Saturday,
Dec. 13:
- Emerson
Avenue ramp closed to westbound I-465
- One
lane open on westbound I-465 between Emerson Avenue and I-65
- Westbound
I-465 ramp closed to northbound I-65
