The North Madison County Public Library System located in Elwood, Indiana, went live on Evergreen Indiana on October 21, 2014. The Indiana State Library is pleased to welcome the 106th member of the Evergreen Indiana consortium.
The Evergreen Indiana Consortium is always accepting applications from libraries seeking to migrate to Evergreen. For more information about joining Evergreen Indiana, please visit the New & Future Members page.
Students in grade 4-12 are invited to write a personal letter to an author, living or dead, from any genre (fiction or nonfiction, contemporary or classic, etc.) explaining how that author's work changed the student's way of thinking about the world or themselves.
Prizes include $100 for first place, as well as being entered into the national competition, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. Several honorable mentions will receive $10. All semifinalists and winners are invited to an award ceremony at the Indiana State Library where they will meet nationally recognized author and illustrator Troy Cummings. Semifinalists and winners will be invited to have their work included in the 2014-2015 Letters About Literature Anthology.
This is a great opportunity for individuals and Language Arts classes alike. For more information, including a Teacher Guide, visit the Letters About Literature website.
This year the International Games Day will feature the hugely popular Hunger Games. November 10-15, libraries from around the world will be competing in the first ever International Minecraft Hunger Games (IMHG). The culmination of the games will be on November 15th when libraries, aka "Districts" will select two tributes, one boy and one girl to send to the virtual regional finals. As in the series the playing field will be narrowed until only one tribute remains, ushering in the first ever International Minecraft Hunger Games winner.
This event is free and open to libraries of all types; to register your library as a "District" fill out the online entry form. If you would like more information on how to take part in the game click here, or visit the Minecraft Hunger Games FAQ page. If you have any questions regarding registration or facilitating the event email the event coordinator at gtsystem@aadl.org.
