The Indiana Center for the Book is sponsoring a new book award, the Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award. The recipient will be selected by the Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Committee, a group comprised of Indiana professionals who work in the area of early childhood development. The award is intended to promote the importance of picture books in the first years of a child's life. The program is intended to encourage parents and professionals to interact with children through picture books during their formative years.
Nominations for the award will be accepted from Indiana school and youth librarians from October 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014. Don't worry if there are several books you feel are worthy of an award, librarians will be able to submit multiple nominations.
For more information on the nomination process please visit the Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award page. If you have any questions please contact Suzanne Walker via e-mail at suwalker@library.in.gov.
