Our Heroes' Tree is a community outreach program designed to join with military families and friends to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by current and past service members. The centerpiece of the program is a tree displaying ornaments created by family and friends of military service men and women. The ornaments honor the military men and women, and raise awareness of their service and sacrifices.
Celebrations related to the Our Heroes’ Tree usually take place in the days leading up to Veterans’ Day through Thanksgiving weekend. Our Heroes’ Trees are typically displayed through the end of December.

Discover why talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing are the building blocks of early literacy in the Every Child Ready to Read 2.0 training session! Learn how to implement ECRR 2.0 in your library programs, spaces, and collections. Join the Indiana State Library Children's Services Consultant Suzanne Walker for a FREE hands-on workshop. There are no prerequisites to take this session, but you must register to attend. The Society of Indiana Archivists has announced the 2014 Fall Workshop, which will be held on October 17, 2014. The workshop will be held on the DePauw University campus, in the state-of-the-art Prindle Institute from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.
This year’s workshop will feature the Services Director from the Indiana Historical Society, Stacy Klingler, along with Tamara Hemmerlein, Assistant Director. They will be speaking on how to improve audience and visitor outreach, as well as how to care for collections.
