It's time to begin planning Our Heroes' Tree events

OHT

Our Heroes' Tree is a community outreach program designed to join with military families and friends to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by current and past service members. The centerpiece of the program is a tree displaying ornaments created by family and friends of military service men and women. The ornaments honor the military men and women, and raise awareness of their service and sacrifices.

Celebrations related to the Our Heroes’ Tree usually take place in the days leading up to Veterans’ Day through Thanksgiving weekend. Our Heroes’ Trees are typically displayed through the end of December.

If you would like to participate, there are many resources available online to help you plan and market your event. Download the comprehensive Planning Guide for an in-depth look at how to plan your event including:

  • General information about the program
  • Program activities and ideas
  • Printable marketing resources
  • Ornament templates

Participating libraries are encouraged to check out the Our Heroes’ Tree Read Together recommendation page, as well as the Our Heroes' Tree, and Hero Ornaments Pinterest pages.
