Indiana Commission for Women
to host 2015 NACW Conference

Indianapolis, IN, June 15, 2015 — On July 19-23, 2015, the Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) will host the 45th Annual Conference and Empowerment Summit for the National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW). Open to all women’s organizations, this three-day conference offers workshops in professional skills development, women’s issues and creative programming ideas.

On Sunday, July 19, activities will begin with a kick-off Welcome Reception, featuring U.S. Representative Susan W. Brooks, IN-5th District, and Co-Vice Chair of the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues. Breakout sessions on Monday, July 20, will feature issues briefings on topics such as human trafficking, trauma-informed care, pregnancy discrimination, preserving women’s history and women in politics. The opening plenary luncheon will feature Dr. Corey Hebert, a nationally known medical broadcast journalist, who has appeared on numerous TV shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, Good Morning America and The Today Show.

On Tuesday, July 21, attendees will have an opportunity to focus on topics such as resiliency, keeping girls safe on the internet and military families. Participants will also take part in an interactive general session on Empowerment through Partnerships to discuss ways in which organizations at all levels can collaborate on critical community issues. On Wednesday, July 22, participants will spend the day increasing their professional skills through breakout sessions on such topics as: using social media to strengthen an organization’s mission, creating partnerships with key stakeholders and engaging girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). A highlight of this year’s conference is the addition of the Preparing the Next Generation of Leaders Girls Forum. Open to forty (40) high school girls, the Girls Forum will train these young women on mentoring, leadership and reputation safety.

Registration for the full conference is $390 for NACW members and ICW partners and $450 for non-members. Registration for any one of the three days is $200.00 (early bird). Registration for the Girls Forum is $85; sponsorships of $500 will cover the cost of four girls and a chaperone or parent. Individual luncheon registrations for the Monday Opening Plenary Luncheon and the Wednesday 45th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon are available for $40 per person or $500 for a table of ten (10).
