New InfoExpress webpage roll out

The Indiana State Library is pleased to announce the roll out of the new InfoExpress webpage. The newly redeveloped page incorporates many of the features that users have been asking for.  New and improved features include parcels, manifest & label management, a user friendly profile interface, and a much improved renewal system.

The renewal function is now turned on.  This means that members can now renew their membership in InfoExpress for the 2015-2016 service year, which begins on July 1, 2015.

The Indiana State Library is also pleased to announce that the cost for the courier remains the same as last year.  The annual rate for InfoExpress continues to be $625 per delivery day; however libraries who were not found to be out of standards for 2014 will receive an upfront subsidy of $525 for the first delivery day.  This delivery service subsidy is limited to one library per system, so branches are not eligible for this subsidy. Neither are privately funded libraries.

Additionally, these libraries can qualify for an additional $425 Resource Sharing Rate subsidy for a second day, if they meet one of the following criteria:
•  Subscribes to 5-day-a-week InfoExpress service
•  Subscribes to OCLC ILL System
•  Is a net lender (#lends / #borrows>= 1.0)
•  Is a member of Evergreen Indiana who subscribes to 2 or more days of InfoExpress service

For more information on InfoExpress, please contact Steve Schmidt at steschmidt@library.in.gov.

Using PastPerfect to Digitize Your Collections

The Indiana State Library is offering a sixth workshop on PastPerfect Museum software for local organizations interested in learning more about digitization and providing online access to their collections through Indiana Memory and the Digital Public Library of America.  This workshop will be held at the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, Clark County, Indiana on Monday, September 28 at 1:30 pm.

The workshop will cover the basics of using PastPerfect Museum Software for providing online access to digital content and supplying images and metadata to Indiana Memory and the Digital Library of America (DPLA). Attendees will learn some basic guidelines for executing a successful digitization project along with specific information on how to use the software to create images and metadata that are compatible with Indiana Memory standards. An introduction to the PastPerfect ONLINE module will be included in the training.

Space is limited. Please register by contacting Connie Rendfeld at crendfeld@library.in.gov  or 317.232.3694.

TCPL Celebrates opening of Family Memory Center

On Sunday, September 13, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., the Tippecanoe County Public Library (TCPL) at 627 South Street, will celebrate the opening of its first Family Memory Center.

“The center is a fantastic adaptation and utilization of space that will benefit many families in our county,” said County Librarian Jos N. Holman. “We hope customers and library supporters will join us for a ribbon-cutting, equipment demonstrations, light refreshments and conversation.  TCPL is tremendously fortunate and actually blessed to have a supportive Friends group to finance the enhanced services.”

The 300-foot, partially-enclosed space is furnished and equipped to accommodate individual researchers, local writer/historians, and small groups. Formerly TCPL’s computer lab, the newly renovated and fully-equipped center was primarily funded by a 50th anniversary gift from the Friends of TCPL.

“The center is a wonderful way for the Friends to commemorate 50 years of supporting TCPL,” said TCPL Friends President Jessica Teets. “This new space will provide a unique opportunity for people to research and preserve their family heritage and memories.”

For more information, please call (765) 429-0113 or visit www.tcpl.lib.in.us.
