Tree Clearing to Start on IN 38 West of New Castle

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded a contract to clear right-of-way along State Road 38 near Henry County Road 300 West. The clearing is to prepare the area for utility relocations in advance of a highway construction project anticipated to begin next year.

Homer Tree Service, Inc. bid $63,575 and was the lowest of six bids received for the project.

Homer Tree Service plans to begin work before mid-March to remove trees and brush from the state highway right-of-way.  Drivers should be alert for workers in the area and flaggers directing traffic around the work site.  All clearing is expected to be complete before April 3.

Next year, INDOT plans a sight-distance improvement project in the area that will lower the grade of a hill and straighten the alignment of the highway to increase visibility and safety.
