NEA 50th anniversary site features Indiana arts stories

nea logo

Several months ago, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) invited Americans to share their arts experiences as part of the federal agency's celebration of their 50th anniversary.

People of all walks of life, and any age, were invited to send their stories in writing, audio or video recordings to help explain the personal relationship Americans have with the arts.

As the stories came in, the NEA launched a new website, the United States Arts to host the many different stories received. An interactive map figures prominently on the page and by clicking each state, people can experience the art stories of other Americans.

In addition to the individual stories, each state arts agency was invited to help the NEA record stories of how public funding of the arts made a difference to artists and organizations in that state. To learn more about Indiana stories, click here.

Gateway signs encourge people to "Explore Wabash"

explore wabash billboard

New gateway  signs grace the north and south entrance into the City of Wabash. Due to a collaborative effort between the Wabash County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Wabash, Wabash Marketplace and Visit Wabash County, two gateway signs were installed to complement the "Explore Wabash" brand created by the Public Art Sub-Committee for Wabash Marketplace.

The second phase of the Creative Placemaking Plan includes addressing current promotional infrastructure that needs updating to fit the brand-message of our community," said Andrea Zweibel, chair of the public art sub-committee.

The "Explore Wabash" signs encourage vehicular traffic to stop and seek out the amenities that the City of Wabash has to offer. The images chosen to use on the gateway signs are local-based experiences that visitors and residents can enjoy right there in the city.

For more information regarding the Creative Placemaking Plan, Public Art or Wabash Marketplace, Inc., call 260-563-0975 or email info@wabashmarketplace.org.
