Lake County State's Attorney's Office Will Host Victims' Rights Week Event

(Lake County, IL April 17, 2015) Lake County State's Attorney, Michael G. Nerheim announced that on Monday, April 20, 2015, the Lake County State's Attorney's Office will be hosting an event in recognition of National Victims' Rights Week. The event will be held at the College of Lake County (CLC), Grayslake Campus, 19351 West Washington Street, Building C, lower level. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. social service agencies will be on hand to offer their services and benefits to the public. At 6 p.m. a program and awards presentation will be held inside the CLC auditorium in the lower lever of the C-Wing.

John Caples, a member of the Citizens Advisory Panel of the Lake County State's Attorney's Office and an area pastor, is the featured speaker. 

The following awards will be presented: 

  • Justice Award
  • Law Enforcement Award
  • Ruth Rosengarden Award

 

Additionally, Jonathon Meier, theater director of Mundelein High School and the cast of Trust will receive a special Community Spirit Award. The production of Trust, written by renowned David Schwimmer, addressed the very important subject of online predators. The award recognizes their courageous tackling of a controversial topic, bringing awareness of this important issue to the Lake County community.

April 19th through April 25th, 2015 marks national National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. This annual event is intended to keep issues which are important to victims of crime in the forefront and promote ongoing recognition of the rights of victims. The theme for this year is Engaging Communities. Empowering Victims.

The event is free and open to the public.
