Recorder’s Office Adds More Tools to Assist
Homeowners
Lake County Recorder Mary
Ellen Vanderventer announced today that the office has implemented an
additional service for homeowners to use to fight against identity theft and
mortgage fraud.
This new 24/7 service allows
residents to sign up on the Recorder’s website to receive an email or text,
alerting them when certain documents have been recorded against their name or
property.
“According to the FBI,
property and mortgage fraud is the fastest growing white-collar crime. We
are continually evaluating ways to improve the quality of our services. This is
an easy, convenient and free tool for homeowners to use to protect their
biggest investment.”
Residents are encouraged to
sign up for property check alerts on the Recorder’s website at: www.lakecountyil.gov/recorder. For more information, contact the Recorder’s office at
847-377-2575.
