I am proud to have sponsored this Resolution which unanimously passed our Health and Community Service Committee and was approved by the our Lake County Board. We now join the City of Chicago, Dupage & Cook County, Waukegan, and over 136 other resolutions throughout the United States and Canada opposing this proposed permanent Nuclear Storage Facility on the Great Lakes. It is incumbent on all of us stakeholders representing citizens in the United States, Canada, and the Tribal communities on the Great Lakes to stand up and speak together on preservation of our most valuable resource.
The Lake County Board recently recognized four Deerfield
Police Officers who were among the very first responders to administer the
life-saving drug Naxolone in Lake County, saving the life of a resident who
overdosed on heroin. The Board Chairman presented the four officers with
proclamations for their outstanding public service, and “A Life Is Saved Award”
on behalf of the Executive Justice Council of Lake County. The
Health Department has trained 90 police officers to use Naloxone and is putting
the drug in the hands of officers (secured with a $1.4 million donation). To learn more, visit the Lake County Opioid Initiative website.

Favorite Forest Preserve Photos from 2014 To celebrate the biological diversity protected within
the Lake County Forest Preserves in northeastern Illinois, we’ve put together a
collection of some favorite
images from 2014 and shared them on our Lake
County Nature blog. We have such an amazing support system of photographers
who donate their time and images to communicate our cause. Their passion
for wildlife and the outdoor spaces our organization preserves is evident in
each image they share. Each photograph was taken right here in Lake County,
Illinois. To see more amazing images from the forest preserves, or to
share photos of your own adventures, join our group Flickr pool.
