PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 8, 2016 Contact: Carla N. Wyckoff 847.377.2430
WAUKEGAN, Illinois -. County Clerk Carla N. Wyckoff encourages Lake County registered voters to log onto LakeVoterPower.info before February 16 to confirm their registration records reflect their current name and address. If an update or a new registration is needed, deputy registrars are available at most municipal, township, and library facilities until voter registration closes. Registration is also available online at ova.elections.il.gov or in-person at the Lake County Clerk's office.
Starting on February 29, all early voting sites will offer voter registration. On Election Day, voters needing to update their record or register for the first time will need to go to their assigned voting site. Grace registration is also available at the County Clerk's office weekdays 9 am to 5 pm through Election Day. A high voter turnout is predicted for the March primary. So check your record today and avoid waiting in line at the voting site to complete required paperwork before receiving a ballot.
To find the nearest registration location, visit LakeCountyClerk.info, and review the “Official Places of Voter Registration” brochure under the Resources tab. For more detailed registration information, contact the Clerk’s Voter Services Department by emailing VoterRegistration@lakecountyil.gov or calling 847.377.2410.
Each applicant must be a United States citizen, 18 years of age by the date of the next general election, and meet a 30 day residency requirement. 17 year olds are eligible to register and vote in this year’s primary if the 18th birthday is before November 8, 2016. Two forms of valid identification must be presented at the time of registration. At least one of the forms must show current name and address.
The County Clerk's office, 18 N. County St., Room 101, Waukegan, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
