Construction Update: Peterson Road Widening and Reconstruction

Construction on this project has been moving along nicely for the past few weeks and we are ahead of schedule. Here are a few project updates, and a description about what will take place through the winter season.

Alleghany Road:
Both sides of the southernmost half mile of Alleghany Road will be opened when they place the permanent striping tomorrow. This will move the Alleghany Road portion into Stage 3 where completing the medians is the main focus. During this stage, motorists can expect one open lane in each direction until the medians are finished or weather forces a shutdown of work.

Peterson Road:
Peterson Road will be transitioning into Stage 3 next week. This will put all traffic on the outermost lanes so that the medians can be graded. The plan is to complete all the main work and median work that can be done this year, (grading and permanent seed) so all that is left to do next year is put in the perennial plants and place the final striping.

Winter Plans:
When we shut down for the winter, we will have all lanes open. This will help relieve winter commutes and assist in snow plowing operations. Next spring we will need to close down lanes to finish the medians, but that should be minimal closures and we will give notice prior to resuming work.

Bike Path/Sidewalk:
The bike path and sidewalk will be completed this year. However, until the permanent signals are up and running, we cannot complete the ADA ramps.
