Temporary Closure of Washington Street for Bridge Repair

Gurnee, IL - The westbound lanes on Washington Street over the Des Plaines River will be closed on Monday, Sept. 21 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m the following morning. The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will be making repairs to the bridge. In order to minimize the impact of this closure to the traveling public, LCDOT will be working through the evening hours to avoid peak travel times.

The closure is necessary during the bridge jacking operation to put temporary supports in place. Once the bridge is supported, the road can be opened to traffic while the replacement of the bridge bearing is in progress.

PLEASE NOTE: Another closure is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 28 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, to complete the bridge jacking operation at the end of the repair. The same detour route will be used.
