The Agenda for the Committee has been posted on our website and the Committee will discuss the proposed draft Fort Sheridan Master Plan. It is anticipated and requested by staff that direction will be given by the Committee for a final plan to be drafted for approval at the November Planning and Restoration Committee Meeting.
While I have attached links below from the LCFPD website, the new plan to be discussed at the Aug 31st meeting has not been posted. I have just provided the links below for you to understand some past discussions.
The big issues as I have seen it is to provide proper access/parking on our lakefront, respect the historic nature of the parade ground, and keeping a majority of the grasslands over a new dominating urban forest. Please don't be afraid to participate and voice your opinions. Thank you all for your past comments and engagement in this process.
Fort Sheridan Master Plan Process
We are working toward completion of a master plan for Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve that will determine future preserve amenities and activities, and potential natural resource restoration efforts.
More than 500 public comments have been received since March when Forest Preserve officials introduced the plans. Feedback has come from a mix of communication methods, including an online forum, emails, letters, and from written comments submitted at an April 8 public open house attended by about 240 people.
Questions or comments? Send email to Fort@LCFPD.org.
