Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Saves Overdose Victim with Naloxone

Naloxone

Waukegan, IL - On May 5 at approximately 4:10 p.m. Lake County Sheriff's Deputies Nudi and Foy responded to an assist rescue at the Skyline Motel in Fox Lake. Upon entering the scene, deputies found a male victim unconscious and turning blue. Deputy Nudi administered one dose of Narcan saving the victim’s life. Fox Lake Rescue arrived and transported the victim to Centegra Hospital. Upon searching the motel room, deputies discovered a yellow baggy containing a substance consistent with the appearance of heroin along with other drug paraphernalia.

The Naloxone injection administered by Deputy Nudi was the third save by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the 11th save by Lake County law enforcement since the formation of the Lake County Opioid Initiative. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was at the forefront of the Naloxone initiative working closely with members of the Lake County Opioid Taskforce. The Sheriff’s Office collaborated with the Lake County Health Department in training all Highway Patrol, Warrants, Civil, CID and members of the Court Security and Jail CRT Teams. In addition, each squad car is equipped with a Naloxone kit and Naloxone is strategically placed in areas of the Lake County Courthouse and Lake County Jail for easy access by CRT members.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office remains committed to fighting the heroin epidemic on all fronts - education, investigation and incarceration. If you see something – say something – call 847.662.2222.
