New businesses included slippers that light in the dark, an app for amateur photographers to have their work reviewed by professional photographers, and a reseller of small appliances.
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy is for students in grades 6 - 12 and is sponsored by the Lake Zurich Chamber of Commerce. Visit LakeZurichChamber.com for more academy information.

The Treasurer is busy preparing the 2014 property tax bills. Look for them to arrive in the mail soon. Remember, this is the only bill you will receive. Property taxes will be due in two equal installments with due dates of June 3 and September 3.
New this year: Your return envelope will have a Bedford Park P.O. Box return mailing address as it’s the U.S. Post Office closest to the Treasurer's lock box facility.

Senior Resource Day, sponsored by Zion Township and Zion Park District, was held on Wednesday, 4/22 at the Leisure Center. About 200 senior citizens explored the conveniences offered by the many vendors specializing in helping seniors with their daily life.
Senior Resource Day attendees were eager to participate in the poster signing and shared many proud stories of their families’ military history as they willingly waited in line to add their personal expressions of gratitude. By the end of the day, the poster was completely filled with sincere words of thanks for the veterans.
Mike Peck of Lake County’s Veteran's Assistance Commission will take the poster to several veterans' events throughout the month of May, and then the poster will be displayed at the Lovell Federal Health Care Center.
