Bulk Trash Pick-ups Continue this Friday, April 24

Bulk Trash 2015

Now is a great time to declutter your home! Twice each year the City’s Streets & Sanitation Division offers residents the free removal of up to six cubic yards of bulk garbage, which is roughly equivalent to the size of two couches. Spring 2015 bulk trash pick-ups will continue on Fridays through May 8, and are scheduled according to residents’ normal refuse pick-up day. If your normal refuse collection day is Thursday, your bulk trash pick-up day is this Friday, April 24.  View guidelines >>>

Multi-family Recycling Pilot Program In Progress

Recycling Crew

In February, the City launched a targeted multi-family recycling pilot program for select apartment buildings with six units or more serviced by Groot. Nearly 200 buildings were chosen to participate based on existing recycling truck routes. The pilot program, which runs through October 31, is focused on increasing the recycling capacity at select buildings and determining if the City has the capacity within its existing equipment and staff to pick up recycling from all multi-family buildings in Evanston. All participating property owners and tenants have received notification from the City alerting them to the pilot program. This program does not affect what can and cannot be recycled; the same items are still accepted.

For more information, including a list of buildings that are participating in the pilot program, please visit cityofevanston.org/mfrecycling or call/text 847-448-4311.
