Community members are invited to come together to make 1,000 cranes during “Flight for Peace,” on Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd. As a part of the Japanese tradition, “senbazuru,” a person is promised the fulfillment of one wish for making 1,000 cranes. Participants of the day’s event are encouraged to wish for peace in Evanston upon making the day’s 1,000th crane. Once all cranes are completed, they will be installed in the Ecology Center as a public art display for a limited time.
