2nd Ward Header

Greetings!

Dear Friends,

Please join me for our next ward meeting on Thursday, February 12, 7 p.m., at the J.E.H. Education Center/School District 65, 1500 McDaniel Ave. As a reminder, I host monthly ward meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Ward meetings are your opportunity to share concerns and discuss issues that impact our ward and the greater community.

Thank you all for your patience while our City staff continues to work diligently to remove snow from main streets, residential streets, City sidewalks, crosswalks and parking lots. Over the last few days, it's been incredibly nice to hear many stories of community members going above and beyond to help their neighbors. Thank you to everyone who has helped dig out cars, removed snow from fire hydrants, shoveled parking spaces, and done their part to keep sidewalks safe and passable for all Evanston community members. As a reminder, volunteers are still needed for the City's Senior & Disabled Persons Snow Shoveling program. Sign up for assistance or volunteer at cityofevanston.org/shoveling, or call/text 847-448-4311.

Please report any remaining snow issues to the City's 311 Service Center by calling or texting 847-448-4311, or online at cityofevanston.org/311

As always, my goal is to keep all neighbors in our ward informed about upcoming events and opportunities they can benefit from. If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please feel free to contact me directly at pbraithwaite@cityofevanston.org, or 847-801-9386.

I ask that you please spread the word in the community about this newsletter. If you or someone you know would like to be added to this newsletter, please follow the link: cityofevanston.org/newsletter.

Take care,

Ald. Peter Braithwaite

Noyes Cultural Arts Center Welcomes Black History Month Exhibit Saturday, February 7

Family Journey Home

Welcome Black History Month at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center by exploring a new art exhibition, “A Family’s Journey Home: Narrative and Visual Expressions.” Long-time Evanston resident and artist Jevoid Simmons has meticulously traced his family history from the beginning of the early 20th century in Alabama. The paintings, which accompany a narrative, depict provocative events that tell the story of "A Family’s Journey Home."

The exhibit will be on display in the center's Second Floor Gallery from Saturday, February 7 to Friday, March 6. To welcome its arrival, an Opening Artist's Reception will be held on February 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. More >>>
