Winter Snow Parking Regulations Are Back
Evanston snow parking regulations are in effect through March 31. Be prepared this winter by reviewing the rules and signing up for convenient email and text alerts at cityofevanston.org/snow.
Residents should abide by the posted red, white and blue street signs, as snow plows may need to make multiple passes to clear the road.In addition to the many courtesy notifications offered by the City, residents can now text SNOW to 847-448-4311, and will receive an automatic reply letting them know if a Snow Route Parking Ban and/or a Snow Emergency is in effect. This automated service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Whenever snow is present on roadways, voluntarily abiding by posted even/odd parking rules helps Public Works plows clear snow to the curb.Thank you for your cooperation in keeping Evanston streets safe!
Help Prevent Burglaries this Holiday Season
The Evanston Police Department has received numerous reports of burglaries throughout the city, with thieves targeting cars, garages and even residential homes. A vast majority of these incidents involve unlocked doors or points of entry. Locking your car door, house door, windows and garage door can go a long way in preventing a burglary. Keep valuables out of sight and, if possible, do not keep expensive items in your vehicle, such as smart phones, laptops and cameras.
Help prevent burglaries in our community this holiday season by taking the preventative measures shown in the graphic above. If you spot a suspicious person and/or vehicle, please report it to police immediately by calling 911.
For community members who would like assistance identifying breaches in their property, security surveys are available at no cost to residents and businesses within Evanston. Surveys are performed by Evanston police officers assigned to the Community Strategies Bureau, and can be requested by calling 847-866-5019, or by calling/texting 847-448-4311.
