Joint 4th and 9th Ward Meeting September 10
Please join myself and 9th Ward Ald. Coleen Burrus for a joint 4th and 9th Ward Meeting on Wednesday, September 10, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave. Agenda items will include:
Presentation by the Evanston Police Department regarding the recent uptick in violence in the larger community
Chicago Ave./Sheridan Rd. Improvement Project
Update on the City’s Bicycle Plan

Enjoy Evanston "Streets Alive!" on Main St. September 7
On Sun., Sept. 7, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Evanston community members are invited to enjoy a mile of food, music, activities and open space during the City's biggest block party ever, "Streets Alive!" Main St. will be closed to motor vehicles between Hinman Ave. and Robert Crown Center.
Presented by the City of Evanston and environmental nonprofit Citizens' Greener Evanston, "Streets Alive!" will feature a variety of activities for all ages, including talent shows, limbo, hoola-hooping, sidewalk chalk art, basketball challenge games, badminton, a giant chess board, an imagination playground, local performing artists, food trucks and plenty of open space. Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-off Celebration September 20
Experience Hispanic art, music, food and dancing at the 2014 Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-off Celebration! The event is presented by the City of Evanston and Latino Resources, and will take place on Saturday, September 20, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Robert Crown Center. More >>>
Save the Date: "Bike the Ridge" September 28
The annual "Bike the Ridge" event will take place on Sun., Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ridge Ave. will be closed to all vehicular traffic from Howard to Church Streets. Come out and enjoy this non-competitive, City-sponsored special event! More >>>

Texting the 311 Service Center is Now Easier than Ever!
When do Evanston beaches close for the season? Has a snow emergency been declared? Do I pay the parking meter on Sundays? All this and more can now be answered by texting the City of Evanston's 311 Service Center at 847-448-4311.
Evanston, along with New York City, are among only a few cities in the nation to implement a service that allows people to text a 10-digit phone number to send requests to 311. More >>>
Learn More and Provide Feedback on Bike Transportation Improvements in Evanston
Evanston residents are invited to participate in any of several upcoming community meetings to learn more about the City’s Bike Plan Update and provide input on related projects, including a proposed protected bike lane along Chicago Ave., from Davis St. to Sheridan Rd. Staff from the City’s Public Works Department and the City Manager's Office will be on hand to answer questions, provide details and gather feedback. More >>>
Evanston Transit Listening and Information Sessions
The City’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs invites community members to attend upcoming listening and information drop-in sessions to provide feedback on public transportation in and around Evanston. Your input will be utilized to prioritize transit projects in Evanston.
