Holiday Refuse and Recycling Schedule

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day
Refuse and recycling will not be collected on Wednesday, January 1. Collections will resume on Thursday, January 2 and will occur one day later than usual that week.
Holiday tree pick-up schedule
City crews will pick up holiday trees beginning December 30, 2013 through January 31, 2014. This five-week window provides residents the flexibility to take down their trees when it’s convenient. Trees will be picked up on the same day of the week as residents’ normal refuse and recycling.
All trees should be placed on the parkway, in between the street and the sidewalk. They will not be picked up from alleys or private property. Residents are asked to remove all lights and decorations from trees, and to not place them in plastic bags. These materials can damage equipment used to convert trees into mulch.
Holiday Burglary Prevention
The holiday season is upon us and so is one of the anticipated peaks in home burglaries. If you are planning to travel and your house will be unoccupied for an extended period, you can call the police department at 847-866-5000 to request a “SPECIAL WATCH” or “VACATION WATCH.”
