New Classes

Learn to Tap Dance

Tap Dance

Learn the basic steps and fundamentals of tap dancing. In this class you will learn simple combinations and complete a tap routine for class performance. Tap shoes are required.

Adult Draw and Paint

Paint

Through observation and invention, we will explore drawing and painting techniques. No previous experience is necessary. Both acrylic and watercolor paint will be used. This class takes place on Mondays, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m

Beginner Swing & Salsa

Swing Dance

Learn swing and Latin-style dancing to help integrate different parts of your brain like coordination, rhythm, and strategy. All while having fun! No partner needed. Registration is required. This class takes place on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m.

Levy Lecture: Understanding Sexual Identity and Gender Identity

Has someone close to you recently told you they identify as something you have never heard of, or asked you to change the pronouns you use for them? An increasing number of people are able to publicly identify as LGBT, transgender, gender non-conforming, or other non-normative identities. This session will introduce you to language and concepts that help you understand and support those around you. This event is sponsored by the Levy Senior Center Foundation.

Evanston Escape Room 

Lock Chicago


Wednesday, September 11, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to try an escape room? Here is your chance! Join us at Lock Chicago, located in downtown Evanston, and help solve clues to escape the room! The experience lasts about an hour and we will work as a group of 12. Afterwards, we will walk 1.5 blocks to Edzo’s Burger Shop. Lunch will be at your own expense. Trip fee includes ticket to escape room and transportation. The Dennis Newton scholarship is available for this trip. Space is limited to the first 12 participants.

CarFit


Friday, September 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This free event focuses on driving safety and comfort for older drivers, but licensed drivers of all ages are welcome. Levy Senior Center staff will be conducting complimentary 20-point inspections of how well you “fit” in your vehicle. Enter on Mulford Avenue and drive past the Levy Senior Center to the James Park Parking Lot. No registration required.

South Boulevard Band


Friday, September 27, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

South Boulevard Band has established itself as one of Chicago’s best “feel good” bands. This energetic seven-piece horn band has entertained thousands with their eclectic mix of rockin’ soul and old-school R&B sounds. This concert is free and is brought to you by the Levy Senior Center Foundation.
