Development Meeting

Please join me at a community meeting on Tuesday, August 6, at 7 p.m., in the 1st Floor Community Room at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave. This meeting will cover two planned developments including one at 601 Davis St. and one at 1012 Church St. The developers will be present to give a brief overview of the projects and will be available for public comment. 

601 Davis St. 
Davis Street Development 2015, LLC has submitted a planned development application to construct a 19-story, Class A office building with 40 parking spaces and 4,510 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The proposed development will preserve the landmarked University Building at the corner of Davis Street and Chicago Avenue. 

1012 Church St. 
Northlight Theatre has submitted a planned development application to construct a 29,860-square-foot cultural facility and live theater performance venue with a 312-seat main stage, rooftop entertainment deck, and a building height of 43 feet.


Service Change to Pace Bus Route 215 Starts August 11

In order to improve route connectivity and reduce duplicated service, Pace Bus Route 215 will be realigned starting Sunday, August 11 to serve Church St. between Skokie Blvd. and Crawford Ave. and Skokie Blvd. between Church St. and Golf Rd. in the Village of Skokie.

Route 215 will no longer serve Crawford Ave. between Golf Rd. and Church St., or Golf Rd. between Skokie Blvd. and Crawford Ave. 

Passengers traveling to/from Skokie Hospital may transfer to/from Route 208 at Skokie Blvd. and Golf Rd. 

There will be no changes to the Route 215 schedule. Updated Route 215 timetables dated August 11, 2019 will soon be available on buses, at PaceBus.com and by calling 847-364-7223, option 3.


Starlight Movies in the Park Kick Off July 27

Starlight Movies

The Starlight Movies in the Park series kicks off on Sat., July 27, with the showing of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” at Twiggs Park, located at Dodge Avenue at Simpson Street. The movie will start at dusk, with interactive family activities beforehand from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Take the Community Needs Assessment Survey

The City’s Community Development Department is conducting a Community Needs Assessment Survey to gather feedback from residents about Evanston’s housing and development needs. Residents can take the survey through August 25 in English or Spanish

Apply For A Climate Action Project Mini-Grant

Local organizations looking to implement climate action projects in Evanston are encouraged to apply for the City of Evanston Office of Sustainability’s first mini-grant program. Eligible organizations can apply for up to $1,000 in grant funding to cover costs associated with their projects, from composting initiatives to community outreach campaigns.

'Black Ballerina' Kicks Off at FJT on 8/10

Black Ballerina

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre's (FJT) production of 'Black Ballerina,' by Stephen Fedo and Tim Rhoze opens on Sat., August 10. Performances are Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center.
