Stay Cool at Evanston Community Centers

Heat alert


The City’s Health and Human Services Department has declared a Heat Advisory for Thurs., July 18 through Sun., July 21. Residents are encouraged to take preventive actions to avoid heat-related illnesses and to check on those most susceptible to heat. All are welcome to stay cool at City community centers and Evanston Public Library locations during their operating hours.

NU Community Picnic and Movie Night August 3

Northwestern University will host its annual Community Picnic and Movie Night on Sat., Aug. 3, at Ryan Field. Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m. and the movie, Incredibles 2, will begin at 6 p.m. Bring the whole family for free food and entertainment. Please RSVP for this free event by Wed., July 31.

City Implements Parking Improvements

As part of a continued effort to meet Evanston's diverse parking needs, the City has announced much-anticipated improvements to parking services and payment options, including eliminating fees for wallet transactions on the popular Park Evanston mobile app and providing more flexible parking options for drivers throughout the city.

After successfully financing multiple major downtown redevelopment projects and creating substantial growth in property values over 23 years, the City has announced the dissolution of the Washington National Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district.

Reminder: Lawn Irrigation Limits In Effect

To comply with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, lawn irrigation is limited in Evanston from May 15 through September 15. Odd-numbered addresses can water on odd days; even-numbered addresses can water on even days. No watering is allowed on any day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Garden watering is exempt.
