A quick stop at the grocery
store or an hour at the gym may seem harmless, but when your laptop and/or work
files are left in your vehicle, you're putting yourself, and
GovDelivery, at risk.
Laptop bags and briefcases left
in the passenger or back seat of a car let criminals know that you've
got an expensive piece of technology ripe for the taking.
With the high-stake clients we
serve everyday, we're obligated to keep their information just as secure as we
do GovDelivery's.
-
Put your bag/briefcase in the trunk. Do this before you arrive at your next
destination – criminals sometimes are watching as you put valuables in the
trunk from the parking lot.
-
If
possible, drop your computer off at home before your next
destination.
-
If
you MUST leave your computer inside your vehicle, put it under the
seat, or toss something over it so it's less enticing to the
criminal passers-by.
-
If
you're not planning on doing any work from home, consider leaving
your computer and files at the office.
-
Think about the weather! If it's a miserable -24 degrees, or high
temps, it's not a good idea to leave your computer in the trunk for long
periods of time.
