BEST BETS AND TIPS FOR WEEKEND FISHING - GO FISH GEORGIA

The weather and the water are great in north Georgia, so nearly all of the area's fisheries should be in their prime this weekend. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is planning to stock over 1 million catchable trout in Georgia this year. Almost 250,000 of these fish have already been stocked, and daily stocking will continue until July 4 on most streams, and until Labor Day on those waters that remain cold through the summer. Trout fishing will continue to be excellent while springtime water temperatures are optimal.

The hybrid bass run is in full swing on Lake Hartwell. This week, hybrid bass were concentrated on the shoal marker points from Eastanollee Creek to Spring Branch.  Some of these points are holding both hybrids and stripers. Check out the full fishing report for north Georgia!

Carters Lake should offer some good chances at spotted bass, which make up about 90 percent of the black bass population in the lake. The few largemouth lurking in its depths tend to be good sized too!

On the coast, the whiting bite is great, so plan a trip when the weather allows. A good fallback is bass and bream fishing in local ponds in southeast Georgia. Buzzbaits fished around shoreline cover should produce some nice bass. Check out the full fishing report for southeast Georgia!

Many public fishing areas are in their prime for producing nice bass. Check out some tips and recommendations for bass fishing at PFAs from Bert Deener in this video. Also, check out his tips for panfish and catfish on PFAs.

Bass fishing at a PFA this weekend? Try out the Texas rig, one of the most effective lures for catching bass on public fishing areas.
