Every five years, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources conducts a survey of public needs and outdoor recreation assets. Next, it crafts a policy that provides guidance to local, state and federal agencies by recognizing trends and identifying needs. The department is using several approaches, including focus groups, telephone surveys and public meetings. The next meetings are November 2 in Dalton and November 16 in Perry. Did you know your public library card can save you money? You can check out a ParkPass and Historic Site Pass, just like checking out a book. The ParkPass exempts you from paying the daily $5 parking fee at state parks, and the Historic Sites Family Pass exempts up to 4 visitors from admission fees to state historic sites operated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Plan ahead because supplies are limited, especially during holidays.
