Recruiting anglers isn’t as big a challenge and keeping them on the water new study by the American Sportfishing Association and Southwick and Associates shows.  Out of 10 years anglers purchase a license less than three times.

New Private Lands Open to Public Hunting

The VPA program resulted in 6 new private properties being open to the public for dove hunting opening weekend. If you or someone you know is interested in leasing land as part of this program, please contact Don McGowan (770-918-6404 or don.mcgowan@dnr.ga.gov).

Enhancements to Artificial Reef 

The Coastal Resources Division (CRD) recently deployed 207 poultry transport cages as the latest additions to Artificial Reef SAV – located 6 nautical miles southeast of Tybee Island. The PTC’s were donated by Claxton Poultry Farms and Fieldale Farms. 

Request for Proposals

Georgia DNR is an active participant in the Southeast Native Black Bass Initiative which works to conserve and restore fishable populations of unique species like shoal bass, redeye bass, smallmouth bass, and others.  The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is requesting proposals for project funding that supports restoring, protecting, and enhancing native black bass species.  For more information contact Scott Robinson at scott.robinson@dnr.ga.gov
