Shutdown doesn’t limit all outdoor recreationists’ activities

 

The federal government shutdown may impact people’s outdoor recreation plans in Florida if they are destined for federal parks and wildlife refuges.

The shutdown may close hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing on federal refuges, preserves and federal parks. Boat ramps may also be closed, which impacts access to common areas shared between the U.S. government and Florida. Closures may include visitor centers and gates on all access points.

To be sure, consult federal park websites.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)-managed lands will remain open.

FWC officers will still be on duty throughout the state, and the FWC’s Wildlife Hotline Alert is always available at 888-404-3922 (FWCC).
