DEP ANNOUNCES OBSERVATION PLATFORM CLOSURE AT BAHIA HONDA STATE PARK

~Public safety is a top priority~

FLORIDA KEYS - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Recreation and Parks will close a 250-foot section of the historic Flagler Bridge at Bahia Honda State Park for safety purposes on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015. A 275-foot section remains open for visitors. This former bridge is used as an observation platform by park visitors.

The rest of the park will remain open for camping, swimming, beach going, overnight cabin rentals and camping, fishing, boat tours and more.

Bahia Honda State Park, located 12 miles south of Marathon on Big Pine Key, attracted nearly 676,000 visitors in 2013-2014.
