DEP NORTHEAST DISTRICT OFFERS FREE LARGE
QUANTITY GENERATORS OF HAZARDOUS WASTE TRAINING WORKSHOP
~Workshop
will focus on hazardous waste, universal waste and used-oil management~
JACKSONVILLE – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Northeast
District will host a free workshop regarding the handling of commercial
hazardous waste and the storage of used oil on Friday, Jan. 16 in
Jacksonville.
Topics discussed will include hazardous waste identification,
universal waste regulations, used oil and used-oil filter management
standards. This training is an example of the department’s continued efforts to
work directly with the community. The department has found that outreach and training successfully drives higher rates of
environmental compliance throughout the state.
Hazardous waste is a discarded substance that because of its
concentration, physical or chemical characteristics may pose a hazard to
human health or the environment when improperly treated, stored, disposed or
transported. Common regulated wastes at businesses may include solvents,
paints, corrosives, spent batteries, used oil and used-oil filters.
Space is limited, so the department recommends registering
early. To register for the workshop, please contact Pam Fellabaum at 904-256-1670
or email pamela.fellabaum@dep.state.fl.us.
