DEP SECRETARY APPOINTS PAULA COBB AS DEPUTY SECRETARY FOR REGULATORY PROGRAMS

TALLAHASSEE — Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Jon Steverson today announced the appointment of Paula Cobb as Deputy Secretary for Regulatory Programs. Cobb will provide oversight and direction to the Divisions of Air, Water and Waste and the department’s regulatory districts. The appointment is effective Jan. 5.

“Paula’s strong command of business and regulatory frameworks and her commitment to excellence make her an ideal candidate for this position,” said DEP Secretary Jon Steverson. “Her knowledge and experience will be a valuable asset throughout all of our regulatory programs.”

Cobb most recently served as Director of the Division of Air Resource Management. She previously served as the division’s Deputy Director and, prior to that, as Program Administrator for its Office of Business and Regulatory Planning. During her time with the department, the division invested in the development of staff and technology to improve its management of Florida’s air resource. Emissions of air pollutants in Florida continue to decline, and the state operates one of the most comprehensive air quality monitoring networks in the nation.

Cobb earned degrees from the University of South Carolina, University of South Carolina School of Law and Vermont Law School, where she specialized in environmental law and policy. Prior to joining the department, she practiced environmental and administrative law in the private sector.
