BUSHNELL
SUMTERVILLE WATER PLANT TO RECEIVE $400,000 IN UPGRADES
~Upgrades
will allow for greater pressure to keep distribution system operable~
TALLAHASSEE – A $400,000 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection allows the city of Bushnell to expand the capacity of the Bushnell
Sumterville water treatment plant in Sumter County.
The project will increase the water pressure at the plant, which
provides potable water for commercial customers along Highway 301 and Highway
470. The plant also serves as a source for fire flow lines for the county.
“It is vital that infrastructure,
such as the Bushnell Sumterville water plant, keeps up with the growing needs
of the surrounding community,” said DEP Secretary Herschel T. Vinyard Jr. “It
is critically important to ensure our fire departments have adequate water
pressure, along with making certain the citizens of Bushnell continue to have a
safe, clean water supply.”
“The Bushnell Sumterville
water plant upgrades will ensure that we have the capacity to operate the
distribution system successfully,” said Senator Wilton Simpson. “This is a
great investment for the community, and I am pleased that we were able to include
it in this year’s budget.”
The project is scheduled to be complete in December 2015.
