DAN A. HUGHES CO. DROPS PLANS FOR SOME OPERATIONS AHEAD OF DEP'S JULY 15 DEADLINE

Tallahassee- Today, the Department of Environmental Protection received notification that the Dan A. Hughes Company is withdrawing its application for a well near Golden Gate Estates. After failing to appear at the Collier County Commission’s Tuesday meeting, and losing the public’s trust and confidence in their operations, the company’s notification is just days ahead of DEP’s July 15 deadline to meet nine total demands necessary to instill public confidence and protect the environment.

DEP Secretary Herschel T. Vinyard Jr. said, “There are still many existing demands we have of Dan A. Hughes in order for them to continue their operations at the Collier-Hogan site. We will be prepared to take action after the July 15 deadline, in accordance with what they have chosen to do or not to do.”
