ATTEMPTS TO REDUCE THE
IMPACTS OF THE D.C. SHUTDOWN ON FLORIDA FAMILIES
~Federal government shutdown preventing state from protecting the environment~
TALLAHASSEE – In an effort to protect Florida's families and the environment from
further negative repercussions from the federal government shutdown, Secretary Herschel T. Vinyard Jr. sent a
letter today informing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, that in
accordance with the coordination agreement, the Department will continue
to process permit applications.
The valid
joint coordination agreement has been in place since the '90s and allows the Department to issue state and federal authorizations for some
minor activities that have minimal environmental impacts.
