TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Florida Geological Survey (FGS) will host special events in celebration of Earth Science Week, Oct. 9-15, 2011. These events will give the community an opportunity to learn more about “Our Ever-Changing Earth”- the theme of this year’s week.
Throughout Earth Science Week, FGS geologists will provide educational activities on fossils, hands-on exhibits and other activities that will demonstrate how earth sciences play a role in daily life.
The Florida Geological Survey Open House on Oct. 12 will feature tours of both the Gunter Building and the Antarctic Marine Geology Research Facility. On Wednesday and Thursday, Webelos Scouts from various divisions will receive an activity badge when they participate in Scout Night.
