EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE RECEIVES
CLEAN MARINA DESIGNATION

~Marina recognized as an outstanding environmental steward~

Clean Marina Designation

The Post’l Point and Ben’s Lake marinas join nearly 300 other marinas across the state as designated Clean Marinas.

Fort Walton Beach, Fla. – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection joins the Clean Boating Partnership to recognize two Eglin Air Force Base marinas for their commitment to environmental stewardship and protection. The Post’l Point and Ben’s Lake marinas join nearly 300 other marinas across the state as designated Clean Marinas.

“DEP is pleased to recognize Eglin Air Force Base's two marinas for their commitment to protecting Florida’s environment,” said Northwest District Director Shawn Hamilton. “The best management practices used by these facilities help protect our waterways and ensure a vibrant, safe and healthy community for Florida’s residents and visitors while providing recreational opportunities to those who serve our great nation.”

Ben’s Lake Marina has the distinction of being designated as a Clean Marina, a Clean Boatyard and a Clean and Resilient Marina. In addition to the facility's emphasis on preventing the release of pollutants into surface waters, the marina has taken additional steps to strengthen its ability to withstand natural and man-made disasters, qualifying as one of only 11 Clean and Resilient Marinas in the state.

Post’l Point Marina provides monofilament recycling, convenient disposal of solid and hazardous waste in clearly marked bins and recycles solvents used at the facility.

Florida’s Clean Marinas go above and beyond required environmental regulations by adopting safeguards that keep solvents, sewage, fuel and oil out of the water. By educating boaters and improving operations at marine facilities, Florida’s Clean Marinas are helping to ensure a sustainable future for the environment, boaters and the marine industry.
