THE FLORIDA YACHT CLUB MARINA EARNS CLEAN MARINA DESIGNATION
~Marina recognized for its outstanding environmental stewardship~
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Department of
Environmental Protection along with the Clean Boating Partnership recognizes
the Florida Yacht Club Marina for its commitment to environmental stewardship and the protection of Florida's waterways. The Florida Yacht Club Marina joins nearly 300 other marinas as a member of the Florida Clean Marina Program.
"Clean water is
vital to Florida's environment and economy, and Clean Marinas, such as the
Florida Yacht Club, are helping to further protect this precious
resource," said DEP Northeast District Director Greg Strong. "Receiving the special Clean Marina designation is a
way for outstanding marinas to show that they understand the important role
they play in maintaining and protecting our waterways."
“Florida Yacht Club Members are
proud to be a part of this program,” said Florida Yacht Club
Commodore Palmer Clarkson. “To represent environmental stewardship is a top priority
and this facility gives boaters a recognizable environmentally sound choice.”
Florida’s Clean Marinas go above
and beyond required environmental regulations by adopting safeguards that keep
solvents, sewage, fuel and oil out of the water. By educating boaters and improving operations at
marine facilities, Florida’s Clean Marinas are helping to ensure a sustainable
future for the environment, boaters and the marine industry.
