Mayor Muriel Bowser presented a balanced
Fiscal Year 2016 Budget to the DC Council.
The
District of Columbia Fiscal Year 2016 Budget and Financial Plan, titled
“Pathways to the Middle Class,” solves the $193 million gap and funds
initiatives to prioritize affordable housing, preserve funding for education
and public safety, and make investments to put the District on a path to end
homelessness and improve the city’s aging infrastructure.
Each
of these items was a key priority identified by District residents at the
Mayor’s public engagement forums held during the budget formulation process.
“My
administration has prided itself on being inclusive and transparent in the
budget process,” said
Mayor Bowser. “The budget will allocate funds where they are most needed,
provide necessary improvements around the city, and create new opportunities
for D.C. residents.”

The DC Department of Parks and
Recreation (DPR) will conduct a survey over the next two weeks (March 30 to
April 13, 2015) to gauge interest in DPR programs.
Let your voice be heard!
DPR wants to gain input from residents
across all 8 wards as to what programs/activities they would like to see
offered at their local recreation centers and swimming pools.
The survey, which will take
approximately 5-15 minutes to complete, will ask questions about which DPR
facility is nearest to your home, what are your thoughts on existing offerings,
whether these offerings actually meet the community’s needs, and what programs
would you like for DPR to implement if they do not exist now at a DPR facility.
The goal is to make programming
decisions at DPR data driven, responding directly to resident needs/wants.
