Breast
Cancer is the most common cancer among women in the
United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer
death in women, after lung cancer.
The earlier breast cancer is found, the better. Sign up for our
breast cancer screening reminder and we’ll remind you based on early detection
guidelines. If you are 40 year or older, get a mammogram and breast exam every
year and report any breast changes to your doctor right away.
Project
WISH recommends that women 40 and over have yearly mammograms – unless
otherwise recommended by their practitioner.
If you need further information on Breast Cancer or
where to go get a mammogram please call Project WISH at 202-442-5900.
Preparations for the 2015 White House Conference on Aging are in full gear. Older adults are an essential part of the fabric of American life, and the Conference offers an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of older Americans to our economy, families, and community. Throughout the next year, we will engage in a national dialogue with Americans of all ages to celebrate and support the health and well-being of older Americans. This will culminate in a memorable Conference in the year that we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act, and the 80th anniversary of Social Security.
